Super Sunday#8

My favourite feature is back. Super Sunday! Where we find out the the super covers of the books that made as go Wow and also made us give the book more than a passing glance. The book featured this time is an  fantasy novel (with a lot of sword fighting probably) by Amanda Hocking. Ever since I saw this cover in her blog I wanted to feature it here. Thinking back , I believe this was my inspiration to start Super Sunday in the first place. But, since this lovely book hadn't been released them, I couldn't feature it here. And when it had finally released I didn't know about it. but past is past. Now. let us welcome this newest member of the Super family.

I love the colour palette used here. But, enough about the cover. Let's hear about the book now.

Hidden deep in the heart of a snow-covered wilderness lies the secret kingdom of the Kanin—a magical realm as beautiful as it is treacherous…
Bryn Aven has never fit into Kanin society. Her blond hair and blue eyes set her apart as an outsider—a half-blood unable to hold a respectable rank. But she’s determined to prove herself as a loyal protector of the kingdom she loves. Her dream is to become a member of the King’s elite guard, and she’s not going to let anything stand in her way…not even her growing feelings for her boss, Ridley Dresden. A relationship between them is strictly forbidden, but Bryn can’t fight her attraction to him. And she’s beginning to think he feels it too.
Meanwhile, there’s an attack on the kingdom—one that will test Bryn’s strength like never before. Finally, she has the chance to confront Konstantin Black, the traitor who tried to kill her father years ago. It’s up to Bryn to put a stop to him before he strikes again. But is she willing to risk everything to protect a kingdom that doesn’t accept her for who she really is? And when her mission brings her closer to Ridley, will she be able to deny her heart?

And see this beautiful cover of the kindle version.

Almost similar aren't they. I am gonna read it as soon as the rest of the trilogy is out. Oh, by the way the other two books also have amazing covers.

I love the interplay of colours used. It's subtle but eye catching, isn't it. I also love the border used, reminds me of the ornate gates of a castle. they seem to perfectly set the tone to the story. Kudos to the designers

#amreading White Hot kiss

J.L Armentrout is on among my favourite writers. But I was still not ready to start this series simply because this series was not complete. Because once I start it. I just had to finish it. But the temptation was too hard to resist and I caved. So, here are the details in case you want to check it out. It's pretty good too.

Title : White Hot Kiss
    Author : J.L Armentrout
                  Genre : Fantasy, Romance(Y.A)

So, what is it about..

One kiss could be the last

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Title : The Bone Clocks
Author : David Mitchell
Genre : Science Fiction
pages : 608
Buy from : Amazon.com
                Amazon.in

(#The above one is an amazon affiliate link)

The cover seems interesting, right. Let's see what the book is about.

One drowsy summer's day in 1984, teenage runaway Holly Sykes encounters a strange woman who offers a small kindness in exchange for 'asylum'. Decades will pass before Holly understands exactly what sort of asylum the woman was seeking . The Bone Clocks follows the twists and turns of Holly's life from a scarred adolescence in Gravesend to old age on Ireland's Atlantic coast as Europe's oil supply dries up a life not so far out of the ordinary, yet punctuated by flashes of precognition, visits from people who emerge from thin air and brief lapses in the laws of reality. For Holly Sykes - daughter, sister, mother, guardian - is also an unwitting player in a murderous feud played out in the shadows and margins of our world and may prove to be its decisive weapon. Metaphysical thriller, meditation on mortality and chronicle of our self devouring times, this kaleidoscopic novel crackles with the invention and wit that have made David Mitchell one of the most celebrated writers of his generation. Here is fiction at its most spellbinding and memorable best.

or if you want a longer version

Following a terrible fight with her mother over her boyfriend, fifteen-year-old Holly Sykes slams the door on her family and her old life. But Holly is no typical teenage runaway: A sensitive child once contacted by voices she knew only as “the radio people,” Holly is a lightning rod for psychic phenomena. Now, as she wanders deeper into the English countryside, visions and coincidences reorder her reality until they assume the aura of a nightmare brought to life.

For Holly has caught the attention of a cabal of dangerous mystics—and their enemies. But her lost weekend is merely the prelude to a shocking disappearance that leaves her family irrevocably scarred. This unsolved mystery will echo through every decade of Holly’s life, affecting all the people Holly loves—even the ones who are not yet born.

A Cambridge scholarship boy grooming himself for wealth and influence, a conflicted father who feels alive only while reporting on the war in Iraq, a middle-aged writer mourning his exile from the bestseller list—all have a part to play in this surreal, invisible war on the margins of our world. From the medieval Swiss Alps to the nineteenth-century Australian bush, from a hotel in Shanghai to a Manhattan townhouse in the near future, their stories come together in moments of everyday grace and extraordinary wonder.

Rich with character and realms of possibility, The Bone Clocks is a kaleidoscopic novel that begs to be taken apart and put back together by a writer The Washington Post calls “the novelist who’s been showing us the future of fiction.”

An elegant conjurer of interconnected tales, a genre-bending daredevil, and a master prose stylist, David Mitchell has become one of the leading literary voices of his generation. His hypnotic new novel, The Bone Clocks, crackles with invention and wit and sheer storytelling pleasure—it is fiction at its most spellbinding.

The cover was a fresh change from the usual ones that we see. Have you also seen any such cover. Do tell. me and the rest of the readers would love to know about it.

"No secret stays hidden forever."

Now he and Beatrice De Novo follow a twisted maze that leads from the archives of a university library, though the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward a confrontation hundreds of years in the making.

History and the paranormal collide in A Hidden Fire, the first book in the bestselling Elemental Mysteries series and semifinalist in the Kindle Book Review's Best Indie Books of 2012

Now, About the book

A complex yet interesting plot, a taste of many centuries and religions, a touch of terror and a mystery behind Jesus being alive is what goes into The Rozabal Line. Written by Ashwin Sanghi, a thriller fiction writer, this book showcases a cult of visionaries who believe that Jesus escaped crucifixion and lived somewhere in Kashmir, India. With a story well-knit, The Rozabal Line received its title from the Rozabal shrine in India.
The story revolves primarily around an American priest, Father Vincent Morgan, who receives visions of Jesus' crucifixion simultaneously getting dreams of the life he might have lived in the past. While this part of the story grows, a lady finds a box in the library in the place where Mahabharata books were supposed to be kept. And there follows a scream before the lady faints. What lies in the box is a mystery for the readers to discover. This kick-starts the chain of secrets and terror in the story that readers experience. While in one part of the world these events are taking place, on the other side evolve thirteen people forming a terror group named Lashkar-e-Talatashar. A prediction that a new messenger is coming, Egyptian myths, the Aztec prophecy and pieces of Greek mythology, all combine to make this book an intriguing connection between religions and cultures.
If you find this interesting, why don't you give this book a try.

Now About the book

Happy endings are not for everyone, but when a relationship goes sour it does not necessarily mean that it has ended. Ravinder Singh tells us the tale of his love story where he loved and lost, but found something else in exchange. Based on a real-life story, the book is the author's debut novel that bares his love life for all to see.
The book begins with a reunion and takes us on the tumultuous journey of finding love in the 21st century. It entails the questioning of the truth in a love marriage where both parties have not even met each other. Tested by the hassles of the modern world we live in, I Too Had A Love Story, makes us want to know more about the fate of the lovebirds in the novel. Humorous and romantic, this book is for the curious who wonder how relationships are successful in this fast-paced century.
Love, a language that the whole world can understand, is portrayed beautifully in the context of the modern world without getting too sentimental or stoic.
With Saturday, Sunday gone....have a fun Monday.
